Privacy policy - Fatty Liver Food Guide

Last updated: 29 October 2026

Short version: this app has no account, no server and no analytics. It asks for no internet permission and does not upload your information. Your data is stored locally. You control exports, and Android may back up eligible app data as described below.

Who this policy is for

This policy covers the Android application Fatty Liver Food Guide (com.funfatstudios.fattyliverfoodguide), provided by Fun Fat Studios. It is a general information app about food and fatty liver disease. It is not a medical device and does not provide personal medical advice.

What the app never does

Permissions the app asks for

PermissionWhy
CameraOnly for taking photos in the Scan screen with the in-app camera. You can deny this permission and choose a photo or type a dish instead.
Notifications (Android 13+)Only for the optional daily learning reminder. It is requested when you turn reminders on, and turning them off cancels the schedule.

Broad storage or media-library permissions are not requested. The system photo and document pickers give the app access only to files you explicitly select. Menu text recognition runs on your device using bundled recognition software. This release does not automatically identify food from meal photos.

Taking a copy with you

Tapping a source link opens an external website in your browser. That website and your browser have their own privacy practices; the app does not send your saved foods, photos or progress to the website.

Three actions in Settings and Help hand off to another app when you tap them, and none of them sends anything about you from this app. "Rate this app" asks Google Play to show its own review card (through the Play Store app), and opens the Play listing if Play cannot show it. "Share this app" opens your phone's share sheet with the Play Store link and a message you can edit before sending. "Suggest a food" opens your own email app with the support address filled in. Anything you send through those apps is handled by them, not by this app.

Settings → Export progress writes a single JSON file to a location you choose. It contains your saved foods, lesson progress, points and goals - not photos and not the food guide itself. Importing that file adds what is missing and never overwrites your existing progress.

Deleting your information

Settings → Erase local data deletes your saved foods, search history, lesson progress, quiz answers, points, badges, weekly goals and notes from the app on this device. Uninstalling also removes the app's private local data. Neither action deletes copies you previously exported, originals in your photo library, or existing Android backups; manage those copies through the relevant file, photo or backup settings.

Android backup

If your phone has Android backup enabled, Android may include eligible app data, such as the local user database, in your device backup or transfer it to a new device. Temporary scan photos in the app's cache are not included. That is a feature of your phone and your Google account settings, not something this app controls, and the app neither starts nor observes it. If you prefer a copy you manage yourself, use Settings → Export progress.

Children

The app is general information about food and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Food guidance and sources

The ratings in this app come from a fixed set of written rules applied to a curated food list, based on the public sources listed inside the app (Settings → Content and sources). The app shows the source behind each answer and distinguishes guidance taken directly from a source from its own application of it. The content is author-written and owner-approved as a set. Owner approval is not clinical sign-off or endorsement by a medical organisation. The app is not a substitute for advice from your own clinician.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data handling changes - for example if an optional cloud feature is ever added - this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described in the release notes.
